What we use

Wood, leather, and details that matter.

Our philosophy

Real materials, chosen by hand

The main wooden parts of Darewy pieces are made from solid hardwood, selected for grain, density, and character. Where a design needs a stable base, such as the bottom of a tray, we may use plywood finished with real wood veneer so the piece stays strong and still looks considered from every side. Some boards are calm and even; others arrive with dramatic figure or unusually vivid colour. We choose the visible material by hand because that choice decides how the finished piece will feel on the table.

Beech

Pale European hardwood with a fine, even grain. Beech is calm, reliable, and a natural starting point if you want a clean wooden look.

Oak

Golden-brown hardwood with visible grain and a familiar European character. Oak feels sturdy, classic, and easy to match with almost any table setup.

Wenge

Dark, dramatic hardwood with strong grain lines and natural contrast. Wenge is for pieces that should feel weighty, quiet, and unmistakable.

Zebrano

Golden wood crossed by bold dark stripes. Zebrano is highly visual and works best when you want the material itself to become part of the conversation.

Padouk

Vivid red-orange hardwood that gradually deepens with age and light. Padouk is warm, bold, and instantly recognizable.

Amaranth

Also known as Purpleheart, Amaranth brings a naturally purple tone that darkens over time. It is a distinctive choice for players who like rare-looking materials.

Sucupira

Dense brown hardwood with interlocked grain and a deep, layered look. Sucupira has a solid presence in the hand and a rich tabletop character.

Etimoe

Warm caramel tones with a subtle ribbon figure. Etimoe is refined and understated, giving a piece depth without making it loud.

Amazaque

Golden-brown hardwood with interlocked grain and a lively surface. Amazaque feels uncommon without being flashy, with plenty of natural movement in the wood.

Natural leather

Natural leather

The second material. Just as considered.

Where a product uses leather, we choose natural leather for touch, sound, and the way it changes with use. It softens over time, gains character, and gives dice or cards a surface that feels warmer than synthetic lining.

Natural Dark

Deep, near-black leather with a quiet, elegant look. It pairs especially well with darker woods such as Wenge and Sucupira.

Natural Brown

Warm medium-brown leather with visible natural grain. It works beautifully with lighter woods such as Beech, Oak, and Etimoe.

Other materials

Inlay alternatives

Alternative inlays for selected pieces

Some products may also offer non-leather inlay options. Availability depends on the product family, so check the product page for the exact material choices.

Dune

A fine, matte synthetic surface with a neutral tone. Dune is soft to the touch, consistent across the inlay area, and easy to maintain.

Cork

Natural pressed cork sheet with a warm, lightweight feel. It gives the inlay a slightly textured surface and a quieter character of its own.

Maintenance

Caring for your piece

Wood responds to humidity, temperature, and light. Keep your piece away from prolonged direct sunlight, standing water, and extreme moisture. If the wood feels dry, a small amount of beeswax or food-safe wood oil can refresh the surface.

Leather and cork inlays should be wiped with a dry cloth. Avoid soaking any part of the piece in water.
